Safety

For urgent needs:

  1. Join our Discord
  2. Go to #help-desk
  3. Open a ticket (it is in the pins)
  4. A moderator will help as soon as they are able
  5. Refer to the rest of this page when you are able

Each
platform we are on provides tools to help you remain safe. We strongly encourage you to make use of them.

Should a platform’s tools prove insufficient for you, do your best to remove yourself from the situation. There are many
ways to do so, more than we can cover here.

Our general advice is:

  • Excuse yourself. It is not your job to handle the situation.
  • Engaging with the problem may cause it to worsen.
  • Don’t draw attention to the situation, it can cause it to grow or worsen.

For urgent needs, follow the steps listed at the top of this page.

There are two ways to send a report:

  1. Open a ticket in the #help-desk channel of our
Discord. To do so, check the pins of that channel.
  2. Send an email to the chair and moderation lead: moderators AT cozycononline DOT com

In both cases, we will respond as soon as we are able. We will be slow to respond to emails during our official yearly
convention event in September.

We ask that you include the following information in your report:

  • Usernames of those involved.
    • For Discord, please follow
      this guide
to provide us with their User ID and username.
  • Evidence of the situation and / or events.
    • Screenshots provide us with vital context and better verification.
    • Where able, direct links to Discord messages help to expedite handling of your report.
  • Answer the following questions in detail:
    • When did this happen?
      • Specify a timezone if you provide times.
    • Where did this happen?
      • Specify which platform(s).
    • What happened?

We can remove people from CozyCon Online spaces, but
you can
help us remove bad actors from platforms entirely.

Each platform we are on provides tools for reporting users. We are not informed of these reports, so please report to us
directly as well as outlined above.

We are always looking for ways to improve our moderation and are
open to any and all feedback.

Should you wish to provide feedback, you can do so here. Thank you for
your time!

If you have concerns or issues with
staff
and wish to contact the chair directly, you may do so. Do not use the ticket system in our Discord or any feedback
forms. Instead, you can email the chair directly at: Chair AT CozyConOnline DOT com.

Please be aware that email responses may be delayed, especially during or around the yearly event dates but the chair(s)
will respond as soon as they possibly can to ensure you know it was
received.
